Multiple openings for contract indigent defense attorneys in Okanogan Washington. Seeking one felony qualified contract indigent defense attorney, will practice primarily in superior court. May be asked to take conflict juvenile or district court matters as needed. Full or part time, Pay DOE and whether full or part time, $4,000 - $10,000 per month. Up to two District Court contract indigent defense attorneys, will practice primarily in district court. May be asked to take conflict cases as qualified in other courts. Full or part time, pay DOE and pursuant to caseload full or part time, $3,000- $8000 per month.
One year contract positions with option to renew, contracts negotiable. Attorneys handle a myriad of criminal cases, including all aspects of public defense, preliminary appearances, arraignments, status, settlement, and trials. Opportunity for mentorship in criminal defense practice and running your own firm.
Must be WA Bar licensed or eligible for license within 30 days of starting work. Must commit to traveling to Okanogan at least two days per week for court. Contractors provide their own malpractice coverage. Low-cost office use and legal assistant available. Four Defense investigators are under contract for use at will by defense attorneys at no cost to contract counsel. All interpreter services are provided by the County at no cost to defense counsel.
