Late in 2014, John Schultz, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Hewlett-Packard Company, hosted nearly 50 corporate and private lawyers at a reception supporting the important work of NLADA. NLADA’s President and CEO Jo-Ann Wallace spoke about NLADA’s leading efforts to ensure that low-income people have access to legal representation and to guarantee that the quality of justice does not depend on how much money a person has.
Mr. Schultz addressed the group about his involvement with NLADA as chair of its Corporate Advisory Committee. He shared, “NLADA is indispensable in the fight for equal justice in America. They are the backbone of the legal aid and defender programs all around the country who serve on the frontlines offering vital legal services to the people who need them most.”
Alex Gulotta, vice chair and treasurer of the NLADA board of directors and executive director of Bay Area Legal Aid, talked about the direct impact the national organization has made on his organization and countless others through technical assistance, training and federal advocacy.
The invitation-only reception convened some of the most accomplished leaders and thinkers within the American legal community. By strengthening partnerships with those in the corporate and private law communities with a demonstrated interest in pro bono and other access to justice initiatives, NLADA is better equipped to make good on America’s promise of justice for all.
