NLADA Statement In the Wake of Hurricanes Fiona and Ian

WASHINGTON – The National Legal Aid & Defender Association issued the following statement in response to the devastating impact of Hurricanes Fiona and Ian and the important work of the Equal Justice community in the times of disaster:

Our hearts go out to all the people who have been impacted by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian. The equal justice community is strong, and together we will work with our colleagues in the field who are supporting the communities in need. We know that in times of disaster hundreds of legal aid and public defender organizations work to provide resources and critically-needed legal services for communities in need.

As always, NLADA stands with our members to support the rebuilding of communities impacted. We urge local, state and federal agencies to include access to counsel as a part of the support provided to help rebuild the devastated communities.
