DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop an inventory of in-house courses for yearly training and a calendar and budget to implement the course offerings;
• Maintain a database of staff training requests, to include both external and internal trainings;
• Manage all approvals, notifications and discussions related to staff training requests;
• Coordinate the annual New Lawyer Training Advocacy Institute;
• Provide direction, management and oversight of all statewide training efforts for both advocacy and non-advocacy staff;
• Coordinate with MLA’s Task Force Chairs and advocacy staff to identify current and future training needs;
• Establish and maintain relationships with leadership in the private bar and bar associations statewide to facilitate training
opportunities for MLA staff;
• Promote courses and recruit instructors and materials to ensure that staff members develop appropriate professional
skills and knowledge on a consistent basis;
• Design and develop trainings, assemble materials, identify trainers, handle logistics, and maintain training files;
• Manage and coordinate the training component of MLA’s summer law clerk program;
• Maintain an annual training schedule for all MLA staff;
• Participate in grant writing activities to continue current project funding and develop future funding opportunities within
the pro bono and training programs;
• Others duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
• JD Degree, with at least three years of legal or other comparable experience.
• Three to five years experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating training.
• Three to five years’ experience supervising and/or leading teams.
Knowledge and Skills
• Experience and practice with adult learning models.
• Experience in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of online, virtual, in-person, and self-directed/On-
demand training programs, as well as the innovative use of technology to support learning.
• Experience conducting and facilitating direct training to individuals and small and large groups.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, recognizing the ways race and other identities intersect in
the workplace.
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a demonstrated commitment to working with marginalized communities.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects, delegate tasks, and exercise strategic, critical, and anticipatory
thinking to solve problems.
• Experience in managing and/or coordinating the work of others.
• Experience in developing and reporting on budgets.
