POSITION: Staff Attorney-IMMIGRATION
Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Inc. (SMRLS) is seeking to fill an immigration attorney position based in St. Paul.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Immigration attorneys provide legal assistance to immigrant victims of domestic violence and violent crime in VAWA cases, U visa cases, U visa adjustment of status, and removal of conditions cases. The attorney will handle naturalization cases, help clients obtain new or corrected immigration documents as well as other types of immigration cases as needed. Staff conduct community outreach to an increasingly diverse immigrant and refugee client community throughout SMRLS' entire 33-county service area. Attorneys maintain a caseload in compliance with SMRLS' practice standards and comply with SMRLS' policies, practices, and guiding principles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income clients, victims of domestic violence, and persons of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds is essential. Immigration experience and/or administrative hearing experience is preferred. Excellent communication skills, ability to work positively and constructively with others in a teamwork setting, good judgment, and the ability to work hard, independently, efficiently, and under pressure is necessary.
Must be a licensed attorney or planning to sit for the February or July 2024 bar exam.

SALARY:
Starting salary of $74,083+ DOE, pursuant to salary scale. Great benefits, including excellent medical and dental benefits.
