Staff Attorney - Domestic Violence
Albuquerque

New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) provides civil legal services to low income New Mexicans for a variety of legal issues including domestic violence/family law, consumer protection, housing, and benefits. NMLA has locations throughout the state including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Gallup, Roswell, Silver City, Clovis, Hobbs, Las Vegas, Taos, and Santa Ana.

New Mexico Legal Aid seeks (2) staff attorneys for our Domestic Violence Unit in Albuquerque.

For this position, the staff attorney will represent domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking victims regardless of income for orders of protection, divorce, custody, and guardianship cases so that they may lead safer, more financially secure lives.

This position is based in the Albuquerque office. Occasionally travel will be required for court hearings.

The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Pay is determined by years of experience and is set by a union scale. NMLA provides a comprehensive benefits, holiday and leave packages. Requirements: 

Applicants must be a licensed NM attorney, obtain a license in New Mexico through reciprocity, or qualify for a limited license.
Show a passion for working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Be comfortable litigating cases in court.
Must be able to multitask and manage a high caseloads.
Have computer skills including shared online workspaces and utilizing video conferencing.
