Position Description: 

The Pro Bono Assistant is an integral member of our LACLJ team, providing coordination and administrative support for our Pro Bono program and the California Legal Access for Survivors Partnership (CLASP) project. The position is responsible for coordinating trainings, meetings, and pro bono volunteer calendars; tracking pro bono cases, data and outcomes; and providing administrative support to the Pro Bono Manager.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

-Coordinate and support in placement of client matters with pro bono partners
-Maintain strong relationships and communication with pro bono and project partners
-Follow up and track status of all cases placed with pro bono partners
-Coordinate and support pro bono projects and clinics, including the California Legal Access for Survivors Partnership (CLASP) project
-Coordinate meetings and trainings for pro bono volunteers and partners, and support distribution of training materials and other resources as needed
-Maintain systems, policies and procedures related to pro bono placements and clinics, case tracking, data tracking, and reporting
-Assist internal teams with pro bono data collection and reporting
-Assist with the development of outreach materials and communicating opportunities for pro bono placements
-Assist with planning and coordinating activities that honor and acknowledge our pro bono partners and volunteers
-Support Pro Bono Manager with other administrative and programmatic needs as needed

Salary and Benefits 
The Pro Bono Assistant is a part-time (15-20 hours/week), non-exempt position with a starting salary range of $27-$28/hour. Part-time employees at LACLJ receive wellness (sick) leave and the opportunity to participate in LACLJ’s 403(b) retirement plan.

Organization Description 
The mission of Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice (LACLJ) is to secure justice for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and empower them to create their own future. Located in East Los Angeles, LACLJ is a non-profit law firm serving survivors throughout Los Angeles County. LACLJ’s primary practice areas are family law and immigration. However, LACLJ strives to provide clients with holistic legal services and has both a growing criminal justice advocacy and appellate practice. Additionally, through our integrated legal/social worker service model, LACLJ Community Advocates work alongside our attorneys providing supportive services such as education, safety planning, and linkages to other service providers as part of the legal team. Requirements:

-Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects while staying organized and maintaining attention to detail
-Ability to work independently and take ownership of various roles and projects
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Ability to work collaboratively with a large base of partners from different backgrounds and roles
-Proficiency in MS Office Suite
-Familiarity with survey software (ex. Survey Monkey, Microsoft Forms, Google Forms)
-Experience using Legal Server (preferred)
-Experience building organizational partnerships and/or recruiting volunteers (preferred)
-Fluency in spoken and written Spanish (preferred)
-Substantive knowledge or experience with DVRO cases (preferred)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements 
-Work will be performed remotely and/or in an office at a workstation and requires use of office machines such as computers, photocopiers, and telephones.
-Position requires concentration on tasks while facing distractions. 
-Position requires attendance at meetings, both remote and in person, and requires occasional travel to LACLJ’s office at 5301 Whittier Blvd. in Los Angeles and other locations around Los Angeles County.
