STAFF ATTORNEY – WARREN COUNTY FAMILY COURT CONFLICT
PUBLIC DEFENDER – SARATOGA SPRINGS OFFICE
Staff Attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Responsibilities: The attorney will be responsible for representation of low income Family Court litigants in Warren County as Conflict Public Defender for Family Court. Cases will include orders of protection; custody, visitation, and abuse and neglect proceedings. Responsible for implementation, recordkeeping and reporting for Warren County contract.
Qualifications: At least 2 to 7 years prior legal experience or equivalent. Admitted to New York State Bar. Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and providing high quality legal services to clients in civil matters. Must be able to communicate effectively and work independently and efficiently. Must have a car and valid New York driver's license. Good computer skills. Prior experience in Family Court is required. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
Program Profile: The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York is a publicly funded law firm which provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals.
Salary: $46,307 to $59,700 DOE, Excellent fringe benefits, including limited loan repayment assistance for qualified applicants.
