Position Description:

The Sixth Circuit Public Defender’s Office is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Public Defender. The Sixth Circuit Public Defender’s Office represents indigent clients charged with criminal offenses in Lancaster, Chester, and Fairfield Counties.

This attorney will provide all aspects of representation of indigent clients charged with criminal offenses in General Sessions Court, Magistrate and Municipal Court, and/or juveniles charged in Family Court.

Requirements:

o Be a member of the South Carolina Bar in good standing
o Completion of 403 requirements preferred
o Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
o Possess proficient computer skills
o Be able to conduct legal research, analyze, and interpret legal opinions
