The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit is accepting applications from all qualified persons for a newly created Federal Public Defender position. The Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma has been split. A Federal Public Defender is needed to fill the new vacancy created by the formation of the FPD’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Federal Public Defender provides federal criminal defense services to individuals unable to afford counsel.
The position is located in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The term of office is four years, with potential for successive appointments. The current authorized annual salary is $176,300. The position will be available immediately upon successful completion of a background investigation.
Must be a member in good standing in the bar of the state in which the candidate is admitted to practice.
Must have a minimum of five years criminal practice experience, preferably with significant federal criminal trial experience, which demonstrates an ability to provide zealous representation of consistently high quality to criminal defendants.
Must have the ability to effectively administer the office.
Must have a reputation for integrity.
Must have a commitment to the representation of those unable to afford counsel.
