The Bronfein Family Law Clinic is hiring a part-time contract attorney for summer coverage (about 20 hours per week).
Position to begin immediately and continue until the end of August 2024.
The contract attorney will be responsible for each and every client matter in the Bronfein Family Law Clinic (FLC) during the time period in which they are serving. Their responsibilities will include drafting and filing pleadings and other court filings, drafting and serving discovery requests and responses, conducting investigation to further information gathering for each case, negotiating with opposing parties or counsel, and prepare for and conduct hearings and trials.
They will supervise a student law clerk and be supervised by the FLC Director. They will keep meticulous records in Clio, our management software, and in hard copy files. Some of the work may be done remotely but client meetings, court appearances, checking and sorting of mail, and updating hard copy case files must be done in person. The contract attorney will enter their appearance in each active case in the FLC. There are no teaching responsibilities in this position.

Key functions:

*Be in regular communication with the clinic director and provide updates as needed.

*Supervise law clerk in the clinic.
Required Education and Experience
Education: JD Required. Good standing in the Maryland Bar required
Experience: Experience representing clients and litigating family law matters, such as divorce, marital property, alimony, child custody, child support and adoption in Maryland circuit courts.
