Position Description: 

The nation’s largest state civil rights agency, Civil Rights Department, is seeking a Staff Services Manager I (Supervisory), working title: Legal Support Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our rapidly growing department and help protect your fellow Californians’ civil rights. Our Legal Support Managers are crucial members of our civil rights mission, providing mission critical litigation and investigative support. They work alongside passionate and dedicated attorneys, investigators, paralegals, and secretaries. CRD’s Legal Support Managers work under the supervision of the Legal Manager and are responsible for support of CRD’s State and Federal civil litigations as well as government investigations. They supervise Legal Analysts, Legal Secretaries, and Senior Legal Typists. The incumbent will be issued a department laptop and smartphone in order to perform work remotely and onsite. Applicants should possess good interpersonal skills to supervise, train, and motivate team members of different experiences, skill levels, and backgrounds. Desirable qualities are: a problem solving/solution oriented approach, attention to fine details and deadlines, the ability to multi-task, and experience in civil litigation and law office practices. CRD employees are privy to high profile case information and should exercise discretion and sensitivity in handling work product and evidence.

Successful passing of a one-year probationary period will grant permanent civil service status.
