Accountant Internship
Position Type: Temporary Part-Time Non-Exempt
Location: Minneapolis, MN 55403
Introduction:
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seeking an Accounting Intern to work for a flexible duration of 3 to 12 months. This role play a crucial role in supporting our grant accounting processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a nonprofit legal environment while contributing to our mission of equal justice for all. This position will be based in MMLA's Minneapolis office.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in managing financial transactions related to grants.
• Track grant funds, expenditures, and compliance with grant requirements.
• Identify, Investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare financial reports for grantors and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate allocation of grant funds.
• Enter financial data into our accounting system.
• Assist in reconciling accounts and identifying discrepancies.
• Analyze financial data to support decision-making.
• Assist payroll processing.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Enrollment in an Accounting, Finance, or Business-related program (undergraduate or graduate level).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Abila MIP and or Blackbaud software.
• Diverse economic, social, and cultural experiences.
Compensation Information:
• $20/hour; hours are between 15 and 30/week as we are willing to adjust hours according to your school needs.
