About Still She Rises:
Still She Rises, Inc. (SSR) provides free legal representation to pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers of children involved in the criminal, child welfare, and housing legal systems. Founded in North Tulsa, SSR is the first holistic defense office in the country dedicated to representing mothers in both criminal and civil legal systems. The organization champions individual client goals while addressing systemic issues affecting the broader community.

The Opportunity:
The Criminal Defense Practice Leader will oversee the day-to-day operations and development of the Criminal Defense Practice, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals set by the Executive Director. Responsibilities include developing innovative legal strategies, implementing training materials, managing relationships with peer organizations and the court system, and supervising practice staff. The role also involves fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, supporting professional development, and enforcing SSR’s values.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of criminal defense practice experience.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Experience managing and developing team members.
- Commitment to SSR’s mission and values.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated commitment to racial, gender, and social equity.
- Superb communication and decision-making skills.

Preferred qualifications include indigent defense experience, progressive work experience, exceptional team-building skills, and experience working on collaborative legal teams. Strong candidates will also have multicultural competence, a history of building strong staff and organizational culture, and a proven track record of successful project leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:
The salary for this position is $120,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, FSA, and 401K with 4% employer contribution. Relocation support is available. SSR is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive hiring and diversity.
