Position Description: 

Are you a passionate lawyer looking to make a real difference in your community? DuPage Legal Aid is seeking a dedicated full-time or part-time Staff Attorney to join our small, committed team. This role is perfect for someone re-entering the workforce after a period away, such as parenthood, or anyone with a strong desire to serve the public.

As a Staff Attorney, you will manage a full caseload of family law cases, including divorces, parental decision-making, parenting time issues, orders of protection, and guardianship matters. You will work exclusively in DuPage County, eliminating the need for extensive travel. If you have litigation experience and are comfortable in trial settings, you will find this role fulfilling and impactful.

Key Responsibilities:
• Handle a variety of family law cases.
• Report directly to the Executive Director.
• Work collaboratively with a dedicated team of professionals.

Compensation and Benefits:
Full-Time Position:
• Competitive starting salary based on experience, with opportunities for annual increases and bonuses.
• SEP IRA enrollment after one year, with a 10% employer contribution.
• $400 monthly medical insurance stipend.
• $10,000 life insurance policy.
• Potential for a hybrid work schedule, including the option to work from home on days not required in court.

Part-Time Position:
• Competitive starting salary based on experience, with opportunities for annual increases and bonuses.
• Flexible scheduling.

Requirements: 

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
• Legal practice experience preferred, but not required.
• Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to working in a collaborative team model.
• Pro-bono and public service experience preferred.
• Ability to commute to our office in Wheaton and the DuPage County Judicial Center.
