ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is Colorado’s statewide nonprofit legal aid program, with thirteen offices providing civil legal assistance to low-income Coloradans throughout the state. CLS provides free legal assistance in a broad variety of legal areas, including family law, public benefits, eviction defense, consumer protection, services to survivors of serious crime and human trafficking, and many others.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position would coordinate Private Attorney Involvement (PAI) across CLS’s 13 statewide offices. This position would represent CLS by coordinating with external and internal partners on statewide pro bono and volunteer initiatives; creating, updating, and maintaining internal procedures, guidelines, and training materials for volunteer attorneys and non-attorneys; recruiting, training, and identifying opportunities for volunteer attorneys; establishing standards of practice for PAI coordinators who work in regional offices; and leading evaluation, planning, and reporting efforts to support CLS’s PAI work. This position is funded by a two-year grant, with the possibility of grant extension at the expiration of the initial grant term.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Coordinating with external partners in coalitions, working groups, and committees focused on pro bono work and Access to Justice.
Creating, maintaining, updating, distributing, and educating staff about internal training materials & resources for volunteer attorneys and non-attorneys that fully comply with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and guidelines.
Recruiting and retaining volunteer and contract attorneys in partnership with bar associations, law firms, the judiciary, internal stakeholders, and other volunteer legal organizations, including by maintaining and improving online recruitment portals and social media.
Developing a community of practice for CLS PAI Coordinators who work in specific regional offices by providing support and assistance to local PAI coordinators as needed and communication emerging needs and challenges for local PAI coordinators to CLS leadership.
Leading PAI evaluation, reporting, and planning efforts, including tracking metrics to report to LSC and other grant funders.
Collaborating with local PAI staff and other partners to lead expansion, innovation, and implementation of new PAI models and programs that best meet client needs.

Requirements: 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
Emotional intelligence and excellent people skills.
Ability to organize and manage multifaceted workload and to meet deadlines.
Self-motivation, with the ability to work independently, think innovatively, and collaborate with others.
A strong commitment to volunteering, advocacy in the public interest, and passion for social justice.
Sensitivity to the legal needs of low-income individuals, seniors, individuals with disabilities, People of Color, and individuals with limited English proficiency.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
Strong data evaluation and management skills, including but not limited to proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Adaptability to a flexible work schedule, including availability to occasionally work evenings and weekends as needed to attend outreach events.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel across Colorado.
Residency in the State of Colorado (or willingness to relocate to Colorado as a condition of employment).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Fluency in written and oral Spanish.
Experience working with volunteers.
Experience coordinating with partner organizations in coalitions, committees, and working groups.
Experience drafting, maintaining, and updating guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Experience drafting or reviewing grants.
Training or certifications in facilitation.
Associate’s degree and/or bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge of Legal Services Corporation regulations and practices related to PAI.
Experience as an attorney or support staff within the private bar.
