The Colorado Access to Justice Commission (“ATJC” or “Commission”) was established in 2003 with the support of the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Bar Association, and Colorado Legal Services. Its mission is to expand access, quality, and fairness in the justice system for all Coloradans. The ATJC works to expand access to justice by conducting unmet legal needs assessments, overseeing statewide strategic planning, coordinating efforts among the access-to-justice community and non-legal organizations, developing financial resources, and advocating for policy reform.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of the Colorado Pro Bono Resource Center (“PBRC”) supports a program of the Colorado Access to Justice Commission (“ATJC”). Under the guidance of the ATJC Executive Director, this position is responsible for the new Colorado Pro Bono Resource Center.

The goal of the Colorado Pro Bono Resource Center is to improve pro bono support statewide through the following activities: 

- Strategic planning, including exploration and development of unmet legal needs and pro bono responses
- Convening meetings with pro bono coordinators at law firms, corporations, law schools and legal services providers
- Developing pro bono projects with existing stakeholders statewide
- Administering voluntary pro bono reporting and recognition statewide 
- Providing technical support for community organization pro bono activities including recruitment, training and communication
- Supervising PBRC staff
- Grant writing and other fundraising activities to advance the programmatic goals of the PBRC
- Other activities as directed by the ATJC’s Executive Director

BENEFITS:
Holidays and paid time off will be provided after 6 months of employment. Benefits include largely working from home, personal computer, paid travel, paid parking. The Commission is a small nonprofit and is not able to provide traditional benefits such as health insurance and retirement. Salary is set to compensate for benefits.

Requirements: 

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, AND TRAINING:
- Required: 4-year college degree
- Preferred: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. Licensed in Colorado or eligible to take the next available Colorado bar examination or eligible to obtain reciprocity in Colorado   

EXPERIENCE: 
- Requires a minimum of 4-6 years of experience with poverty law, legal services and/or public policy issues and (ii) experience coordinating volunteer projects  

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of issues related to poverty law, the indigent population in Colorado and computer technology experience
- Excellent public relations, management, organizational and communication skills required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
- Prolonged periods working on a computer
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- The ability to communicate accurate information and ideas, written and in conversation, so others will understand
- Occasional local, regional, and rural travel
