The Moran Company is pleased to partner with Nevada Legal Services to recruit the organization’s next Executive Director.

General Background

Nevada Legal Services' mission is to strengthen the community of Nevada by ensuring fairness and providing equal access to justice for low-income Nevadans. Nevada Legal Services (NLS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, formed in 1982, that serves all 17 counties and 23 Indian Reservations in Nevada. Nevada Legal Services has offices in Reno, Las Vegas, Carson City, Elko, and Yerington, and is the only legal organization that provides free civil legal services to the entire State of Nevada. NLS has a staff of approximately 60 with an annual budget of some $7M.

NLS primarily serves clients with incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level with limited assets. It is funded by grants from the Legal Services Corporation, the Nevada Bar Foundation, and other state, federal, and private grants.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall executive leadership and operational administration of NLS. The Executive Director ensures that the agency fulfills its mission to provide access to justice for low-income Nevadans. The Executive Director establishes external partnerships at the local community and state levels, assists with the identification of community needs, and is engaged in program planning and policy formation. The Executive Director answers to the Board of Directors.

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Requirements: 

Qualifications for this position include: minimum of 5 years leadership experience, experience with legal aid services, strategic thinking and vision, strong financial management skills, and a passion to provide legal services to underserved Nevadans. An attorney is preferred, who is a member of the Nevada Bar, or willing to sit for the NV bar exam within three years of employment.
