Responsible To: Director of Development
Grant related responsibilities
1. Manage communication process with grantors.
2. Manage grant and deadline tracking in grant management software.
3. Develop grant document management system.
4. Develop grant policies and procedures.
5. Write persuasive, error-free grant applications and provide in-depth proofreading to help other grant writers do the same.
6. Compile data and write grant reports in coordination with development and finance teams.
7. Conduct research to ensure applications and reports are strategic and aligned with funder interests and requirements.
8. Utilize grant team resources (database, tracking calendar/tickler system, text library, document management system) to organize work and effectively and efficiently meet deadlines.
9. Work with finance team to develop accurate budgets and billings.
10. Research new grants and potential funding sources.
Technology related responsibilities:
1. Utilize grant management software, tracking calendar/tickler system and document management system to track grants, manage grantor relationships and extract grantor information.
2. Utilize our case management system, Legal Server, to extract case data for grant applications and reports.
General
1. Create and present information to key staff and the Board of Directors, as requested.
2. Provide assistance with annual audit, as needed.
3. Assist with Iowa Legal Aid Foundation Board meetings and fundraising efforts as needed.
4. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Strong persuasive writing ability. Strong attention to detail/accuracy, ability to manage deadlines, critical thinking skills and process/problem solving orientation are a must. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in team environment. Demonstrated research and data analysis skills. Strong oral and written communication abilities. Exemplary database and data entry skills. Experience creating and working with budgets. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of grant writing or grant management experience. Computer proficiency required. Demonstrated concern for and sensitivity to low-income persons.
