Primary Responsibilities:
Apply the principles of MMLA's Racial Justice Values Statement in all interactions.
Focus on civil litigation in housing law to defend evictions, secure safe and healthy housing, and prevent housing discrimination in court and administrative settings.
Professionally maintain an active litigation caseload, including hearings and trials.
Additional duties may include complex litigation, policy advocacy, community education, and staffing a community clinic site.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Must be licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota.
Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to the needs of low income and vulnerable clients.
Show a commitment to working as a team member to serve client needs.
Must demonstrate a desire to appear in court to litigate client rights.
Excellent analytical and written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Diverse economic, social, and cultural experiences preferred.
Proficiency in a second language preferred, especially Arabic, Hmong, Oromo, Somali, or Spanish.
Legal training, knowledge of community resources, and experience with case management software.
Compensation Information:
$80,000 to $90,182, depending on experience, plus benefits. Benefits include family medical and dental insurance, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, 403(b) with employer match, FSA, employee assistance programs, and generous paid time off.
