Appellate Paralegal

The Office of the State Public Defender (OSPD) is accepting applications for multiple Legal Assistant and Legal Analyst positions. As a Legal Analyst or Legal Assistant at OSPD, you will work collaboratively with a team of attorneys and caseworkers to provide paralegal support in capital appeals and other matters in the California Supreme Court, the District Courts of Appeal, and the Superior Courts of California. You will also support the development of appellate claims, production of appellate briefs of the highest caliber, maintain the integrity of an intricate document management system, and provide sensitive and proactive client support.

OSPD has two regional offices in Oakland and Sacramento.

This position is eligible for remote-centric telework, which includes a minimum of three remote workdays per week. However, team coordination may require in-office work as needed and occasional travel. During onboarding and training, you will be required to report to one of the OSPD’s offices daily.
