Salary and Benefits:

• $21 an hour depending on experience
• 13 paid holidays annually

Job Summary
As a Legal Assistant in the Adult Guardianship Department, you will support attorneys in providing legal representation to vulnerable adults involved in guardianship proceedings. Your organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information will be key in ensuring efficient and effective client service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Case Management:
o Manage all aspects of client legal matters, from intake and screening to case closure.
o Maintain and update case files, client records, and case notes in compliance with organizational standards.

• Legal Support:
o Prepare, organize, and maintain legal documents, pleadings, and court filings.
o Ensure timely filing of documents using EFlex and other court filing systems.
o Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including compiling exhibits and coordinating schedules.

• Scheduling and Coordination:
o Schedule appointments, meetings, court appearances, and other critical dates.
o Maintain attorney calendars and track deadlines to ensure timely case progress.

• Client Interaction:
o Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and addressing basic inquiries.
o Facilitate communication between attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and court staff.

• Community Resource Coordination:
o Stay informed about community resources and services relevant to clients’ needs.
o Provide referrals and coordinate support services as necessary.

• Administrative Duties:
o Monitor office supplies and ensure timely procurement.
o Support attorneys with administrative tasks, such as document formatting, proofreading, and mailing.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal.
o Familiarity with adult guardianship law is preferred but not required.

• Skills and Abilities:
o Strong knowledge of civil litigation processes, court procedures, and filing systems.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software.
o Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
o Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Work Environment

Location: NNLA’s office is located at 299 S. Arlington Ave., Reno, NV, with potential for hybrid or remote work arrangements based on organizational needs.
