Education and Outreach Coordinator, Eviction Protection Project
Legal Aid of Arkansas is a public interest, not-for-profit law firm dedicated to assuring equal access to justice in civil matters for low-income Arkansans. Legal Aid’s advocates provide counsel in housing preservation, domestic violence prevention, economic justice, and consumer protection.
Legal Aid has an open position for a mission-oriented Education and Outreach Coordinator to have an immediate impact on housing in Arkansas by developing and disseminating community education materials, establishing and nurturing community relationships, and scheduling project presentations throughout Arkansas that will be used to inform tenants and landlords regarding their rights and responsibilities in promotion of this project, and inform the populace of free legal services available, including addressing eviction mitigation, education, and defense. The position may be in West Memphis, Little Rock, Jonesboro, or Springdale.
Duties and qualifications include:
• Creating and deploying an advertising and marketing campaign, including but not limited to the development of brochures, press releases, social media, and legal fact sheets.
• Creating and maintaining relationships with community partners and service provides, establishing and building relationships to assure wrap around services for Arkansans facing eviction.
• Engage in outreach to educate tenants, advocates, and providers on the many issues and resources that promote housing stability, including scheduling presentations for project staff.
• Meet regularly with community partners, courts, and project staff to provide ongoing needs assessment and to assist with access to resources and services that support project goals.
• Assist with in person workshops, tabling events, presentations and clinics to reach out to the communities that Legal Aid serves, including presentations to attorneys, bar associations, landlords, real estate professionals, other agencies serving the client community, and other appropriate audiences.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must have the ability to work flexible hours and travel throughout Arkansas. Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or three years’ experience in a similar position required.
This position is not exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The starting salary is $22.33-$24.67 per hour, DOE. The typical work week is 37.5 hours. Legal Aid offers health and dental insurance, retirement, training, position-related travel reimbursement and per diem, student loan repayment assistance, and other benefits.
