Staff Attorney I – Alaska Network on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Legal Program
Full-time, Exempt position

This position within the ANDVSA Legal Program will provide statewide legal services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This is a full-time, exempt position that can be either remote within Alaska or based in ANDVSA’s Anchorage office. The position is supervised by the ANDVSA Senior Staff Attorney. Some travel is required. The salary depends on experience with a range of $76,698- $91,581.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interview and screen prospective clients for eligibility into ANDVSA’s Legal Program
• Provide legal representation in civil cases
• Assist ANDVSA Legal Program with efforts to ensure successful representation of victims in the courts including advocacy and legal research
• Consult, confer, and provide technical assistance and training to advocates, attorneys and other professionals
• Track case statistics for grant reporting requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Law degree and eligible for admission or waiver to the Alaska Bar
• Substantial computer and legal research skills
• Ability to work both independently and cooperatively
• Commitment to social justice, systems advocacy, and anti-oppression work
• Commitment to the elimination of personal and societal violence in the lives of all Alaskans

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Admission to the Alaska Bar
• Experience with family law cases and/or general civil litigation practice
• Experience providing direct services to clients
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, or other underserved populations
• Fluency in a second language
• Experience providing direct services in rural settings
