Celebrating the 30th anniversary of AmeriCorps is an important milestone for both the organization and the members that have served over the last three decades. AmeriCorps was created in 1994 under the National and Community Service Trust Act, and since then, it has expanded to AmeriCorps, and has played a vital role in addressing pressing societal issues across the United States.
Since 2017, the establishment of the NLADA & AmeriCorps partnership, NLADA VISTA members have strengthened public defense systems through short term capacity in creating: innovative data tracking systems, improving client management systems, police misconduct reports, donor databases for grants, and fundraising for client advocacy.
We recognize and honor the dedication and service of the millions of AmeriCorps members, including our current members and VISTA alums, who have committed their time and efforts to make a difference to improve indigent defense systems.
Our NLADA VISTA project staff are taking the 30th anniversary of AmeriCorps to educate the public about the importance of national service and inspire more people to get involved and to serve!
