Defenders often ask how can data help their programs and what technology they need for analysis. NLADA’s new Defender Technology and Analytics Self-Assessment Toolkit will help defender managers identify their current level of technology and analytics capacity, and understand the potential for growth. Researchers, IT professionals, policymakers, and funders also will learn what technology, skills, and collaboration are required for a well-managed, data-driven indigent defense system. The toolkit was developed for NLADA by Mark Erwin and Meg Ledyard, known nationally for their work on the innovative analytics and technology backbone of the Travis County, Texas indigent defense system.
A core piece of the toolkit is its maturity model self-assessment. Maturity models are tools that business managers use to understand the sophistication and automation of their programs relative to others in their field. In just 10 minutes, you can see where your program falls on the technology and analytics spectrum for indigent defense.
